Hospital Couture was born in one of the most unexpected places imaginable: a hospital room.

I never expected one of my biggest creative ideas to come from an experience that began with fear, uncertainty, and the need to get better.

Being hospitalized was overwhelming. I didn't want to be there, but I knew I needed medical attention and had to give myself the opportunity to heal. The environment was unfamiliar, and I was ready to go home. But as the days passed, something unexpected happened: I began connecting with the doctors, nurses, and people around me.

What started as a difficult experience slowly became an opportunity to find joy, build relationships, and express myself through creativity.

When the Hospital Became My Runway

During my stay, my doctors and nurses encouraged me to create content. They saw my personality, my confidence, and my creativity and encouraged me to share it.

They would say things like, "Why don't you make content videos? You're beautiful. You should create content."

So I did.

I picked up my phone, put on my hospital gown, opened Instagram, and started strutting through the hospital as if the hallway were my personal runway.

I wasn't just making videos. I was finding a way to bring laughter, personality, and creativity into an environment that could feel heavy.

I got to know the doctors and nurses, shared moments with them, and created memories I will always appreciate.

The hospital became more than a place where I received care. It became the birthplace of one of my most meaningful creative projects.

From Sketches to a One-of-a-Kind Collection

While I was in the hospital, I began sketching ideas and thinking about how I could transform the things around me into fashion.

I looked at the hospital gowns differently.

Instead of seeing them as something purely clinical, I started seeing possibilities: silhouettes, textures, layering, construction, and storytelling.

Then I had an idea.

What if I turned hospital gowns into an entire fashion collection?

That idea became Hospital Couture.

I began imagining how hospital garments, medical-inspired details, lace, painting, and unconventional materials could be transformed into one-of-a-kind fashion pieces.

The hallway became my runway.

The hospital gown became my starting point.

And my sketches became the foundation for a collection that would carry a story far beyond the hospital room.

The Support That Made a Difference

One of the most meaningful parts of my experience was the care I received at Sentara Hospital.

My insurance coverage was initially limited to two days, but Sentara allowed me to remain hospitalized for approximately two weeks so I could continue receiving the care I needed.

That time meant a great deal to me.

It gave me the opportunity to focus on my recovery, connect with the healthcare professionals around me, and develop the creative idea that would eventually become Hospital Couture.

I am grateful for the doctors, nurses, and staff who supported me during that chapter of my life.

Their encouragement to create content helped me find a different kind of energy during a challenging experience.

And that encouragement became part of the story behind this collection.

From Overcoming to Creating

Hospital Couture represents my ability to look at an experience from a different perspective.

I went into the hospital needing help and wanting to get better. While I was there, I found unexpected connections, creative inspiration, and a new direction for my work.

I don't want to reduce that experience to the difficult moments. I also want to remember the laughter, the people I met, the ideas I developed, and the inspiration I found.

Through Hospital Couture, I am transforming hospital-inspired garments and materials into fashion that explores identity, resilience, imagination, and self-expression.

This collection is not about glorifying illness. It is about showing what creativity can emerge from an experience that changes you.

My goal is to push this collection further—to develop Hospital Couture into a recognized creative fashion line that combines storytelling, unconventional design, and craftsmanship.

I want people to see these pieces and understand that fashion can come from unexpected places.

That art can emerge from difficult experiences.

And that a single idea, developed in a hospital room, can grow into something much bigger.

Today, I am continuing to build Hospital Couture as one of the most meaningful collections I have created through Devy Mortals Studios.

What began with hospital gowns, Instagram videos, and sketches has become a growing fashion concept with a vision for the future.

I want to continue developing original pieces, expanding the collection, and sharing the story behind each design.

Most importantly, I want to honor the experience that inspired it and the people who helped me through it.

The hospital was where I went to get better. It was also where I discovered a new creative direction.

The gowns became fashion.

The sketches became designs.

The experience became art.

And Hospital Couture became a part of my story.
